At last, it seems the new season is here which means 2 things, 1. it’s time to enjoy the sun and 2. it’s time to refresh your home to brighten it up after such a long winter. So, let’s take a look at the hottest trends for your home…

Colour

Bright, bold colours are a must for this season. Don’t be scared to add a statement feature wall in a fiery orange or tropical green, these will do wonders for the impact your home will make. If you aren’t quite brave enough to go the whole hog, why not add statement pieces like large cushions, eye-catching rugs or chunky throws? Don’t overdo it by making everything bold and bright though, you want to freshen it up, not go over the top. Mix some neutrals in with your bright accessories to keep it classy. Your other option is to overhaul your tired furniture with bright green or yellow sofas, seats or tables which will give your home an instant lift:

Brass

Yes, you read that right, brass is back in. Not in the 80’s way (we all remember brass animals and fireplace ornaments) but in a classy, subtle way. It can be a great way of brightening up your home as it catches the light and for providing an interesting focus. Brass rimmed mirrors, plant pots, candlestick holders are all fantastic items to bring a new look for Spring 2018.

Tropical

Again, this may make you think back to the 80’s but tropical is a big trend for this season. Real plants, greenery, bold leaf prints, anything that seemingly brings your home to life. Nothing says summer better than a tropical print teamed up with some bright pinks and yellows. How about a feature wall with a palm leaf print? Or subtle touches such as a leaf throw or table runner? Just take a look at this fab combi below:

Floral

Flowers in the home always seem to make it feel so much more friendly, don’t they? But you don’t just have to stop with flowers, why not add floral prints too? Floral curtains are making a big comeback for 2018 and it’s not hard to see why. Plain curtains just don’t make the same statement in the home, do they? A curtain frames a window and these should always standout, more of us should dress them to impress. Full-length curtains achieve just this. Look how these pretty pink curtains make these doors a focal point of this room:

Statement Storage

Storage is something we all seem to need more and more of in the home. With growing families, busy lives and space rapidly running out, clever storage is well sought after. But why should this be boring? Make a statement in your home with large units, funky shelving and out there dressers. Not only will you be hiding away all your bits and bobs you will be adding an interesting feature to your home. OR how about you don’t hide it all away but instead dress it and show it off with a shelf like this?:

Embellishment

Fringing, tufting, tassels and feathers – you name it, it’s here for this season and you’ll be seeing it on cushions, wall hangings, throws, rugs and other home accessories. This trend brings a handmade feel to your home and can be easily added to any room of the house. How about tasselled cushions on the bed or a wall hanging with funky fringing for your lounge? Tufting on the edge of a rug for the dining room or feather detail on a large bean bag for the kids’ room? There is so much you could do with this fun trend this season.
