Why We Have Switched Our Dog To Insect-Based Dog Food

Choosing the right dog food isn’t always an easy process. There are so many on the market that claim to do so much for your pooch, that state they are the best, are well-known names, are endorsed by *insert famous person’s name*, not to mention the varying price points but how do you know what is the right one for your dog? It’s not always straightforward as we found out. This is how and why we switched our dog over to insect-based dog food.

Soppycid Reusable Water Balloons Review

As an eco-conscious parent, I constantly feel that pull between doing what is right for the environment and what my kids want. It’s really tough at times, you don’t want to end up being a “no” parent but you also don’t want to be creating unnecessary waste. One area I felt this was a number of years ago when I stopped buying disposable water balloons. After seeing the mess, needless plastic waste, how fast it was all over, not to mention the money I had wasted, I decided that these were not something we would be using ever again. I only had one child at the time and after a good discussion, he was mature enough to understand and agree. Fast forward a few years and I came across crocheted reusable water balloons which looked like a fantastic alternative to the disposable ones. We purchased a set and were over the moon with the results. Being an eco blogger I of course shared these with my audience and wrote about our experience of these reusable water balloons here on my blog. Now, even though we loved them, I could see that they weren’t quite for everybody and I get that. They are what I would call a very eco product. They are very different to disposable water balloons and I know that sometimes it’s harder to make a swap when it doesn’t feel like what you are used to (mindset is really key when it comes to making sustainable changes) but at the time I couldn’t provide anyone with another option… Until now!

How and Why You Can Offset Your Flights

We are living in a far more eco-conscious world with many of us wanting to do the best we can for the future of our planet and all those that live on it. There are a wide range of steps we can take to make positive changes each day but when it comes to travel this is far more tricky and most will significantly increase your carbon footprint. You’ll probably be pleased to hear that car, coach and train travel are all much better for the environment so you do have those options to weigh up when it comes to making your holiday plans but I am sure you will already be very aware that both cruise liner and plane travel will have a much larger negative impact.

Now, I am not about to ever dictate to anybody how they should be travelling, it isn’t my place (or anybody’s for that matter) but what I can do is share some knowledge and my experience of offsetting our flight this year.

As a family, we love going on varied holidays and trips. It is so important to us that we can explore the UK and beyond, give the children lots of new experiences and of course, make some amazing memories. Being eco-conscious, it can be tricky to always get that sustainability balance right – travel will always come with waste, a carbon footprint, things we cannot change (hello real life!) but that’s not to say that we cannot continue to try our best as we do daily at home. On every holiday we have had since starting on our lower waste journey (with cloth nappies), we have taken our favourite eco-friendly items with us and so I thought I would share with you how much that has accumulated to over the years and how we make it work.

Reusable Period Product Options for Your Tween or Teen

*Contains affiliate links

When the time comes for your tween or teen to begin their period you understandably want to be prepared for them but with so many period product options out there it can be a little confusing knowing what to opt for. With younger people being far more eco-conscious than previous generations choosing reusables for their period is the best step you can take. Not only will you be helping to protect their future by helping to protect our environment but you will also be helping their vaginal health too. It’s no secret that disposable period products are in fact classed as single-use plastic but did you know that most also contain chemicals and perfumes that can wreak havoc with your pH balance, your skin and how heavy your flow is. Yes, of course, there are now “eco” disposables available but how eco these are is yet to be seen really. They will still be thrown away, won’t they?! So for me, it is reusables that come out top each and every time. Let’s see which reusable period product options there are for your tween or teen.
