Baba and Boo Review

I have always said that using cloth nappies should be simple. I believe there is a nappy out there to suit everyone and that once you find it, using cloth will be a joy and this is exactly what happened when we discovered Baba and Boo 3 years ago. I was very lucky that this brand came as a recommendation by a friend and that as soon as I fitted our first one, I was hooked! Baba and Boo have seen us through every single day of our cloth nappy journey and because of their reliability, their stunning prints, their comfortable fit, they have made using cloth a breeze and so I thought I would write up a full Baba and Boo review so others could find out all of the relevant information and decide if this brand is the one for them too.

Review | Jody and Lara Sustainable Kids Swimwear

When it comes to sourcing our clothing I am trying my best to seek out either pre-loved or sustainable items because I no longer want to contribute to the fast fashion industry. The damage it causes to our planet, the pollution, the unethical practices involved including unfair pay and poor working conditions for staff are something I think we all need to be aware of in order to be able to make informed decisions on where to spend our money and I know it isn’t always overly clear but I promise with a little bit of digging you may begin to think about shopping very differently.

Luckily, there are now plenty of companies who are both sustainable and ethical, who want to provide well-made clothing without damaging our environment and who care about their workers, their consumers and the planet. Jody and Lara are one such company, providing sustainable swimwear for kids that you will just love.

‘The Year We Muddled Through’ Book Review

This last year has been a whirlwind of changes, new routines, new ways of getting by, dealing with a wide range of emotions and muddling through a very strange time. I am sure you’ve had many highs and many lows, you’ve probably made a lot of memories and learnt how to enjoy a slower pace of life. Yes, there were times when we all hit that brick wall and wanted our own space again but there were other times where we cuddled our children so tightly, feeling incredibly blessed for all we have. I hope we can all look back at that year with more fond memories than worrying ones especially when we reflect on those long walks, the activities we did for school, the PE with Joe, arts and crafts and so on. Cleaning Products That Make Being More Eco-Friendly Simple

Having a clean home is important but this has long been associated with chemicals, plastic bottles, plastic sponges and non-recyclable items. When you walk down the cleaning aisle in the supermarket you are stepping into an area that has a product for every job imaginable and it is easy to become overwhelmed, to feel as though you need it all and to go away with a trolley filled with plastic, which is why sourcing your cleaning products (including your brushes, sponges, scrubbers, etc) elsewhere is far more beneficial. Stasher Bag Review

As a family, we are always looking for new ways to reduce our kitchen waste and one of the biggest areas is to eliminate all single-use food coverings and storage. We already use beeswax wraps which have been a great step towards banishing the clingfilm but sometimes you really need a sealed option that won’t let the air in and even though we try out best to reuse freezer bags, they still wear over time and need replacing. Save Money And Cut Carbon With LED Bulbs

When it comes to living more sustainably, there isn’t just one clear cut way of achieving this. We all want to do our bit and no matter how big or small that is, each change is important. I will often use the phrase Small Sustainable Steps because I truly believe these are what matter, there is no way that every single person can attempt to make huge changes in their lives but each of us can take a small step. Another aspect of eco-living that I often hear is that it is difficult to do. Yes, I agree that not all eco swaps will suit every person but to me, if you select changes that you know you can make, that will last, that will work for you, then that is enough. One area which I think we could all begin to tackle is to switch our light bulbs. Sounds very simple, doesn’t it? If we all switched our old light bulbs over to LED bulbs we could take some big steps towards cutting our carbon whilst also saving money.

Shopping more sustainably has been something that I have been actively trying to do for the last couple of years. I have found that secondhand shopping works really well for us as a family but there are times when you really do need to buy new (I, like many, will only buy new underwear and socks). In this case, I try my best to check out a company’s sustainability aims, their ethics and the materials their clothes are made from, however, I have found that it can be very tricky to tick every box, and it can be quite confusing when their statements aren’t as clear cut as you, the consumer requires. This is precisely why when a company like OLC Clothing, who are clearly passionate about what they do get into contact, I get really excited because it means that a change is happening and if it is a positive one for our planet then I am more than happy to support them.
