Visiting Lake Kournas, Crete

We have recently got back from a gorgeous family holiday in Crete and I am just sitting here dreaming of going back to the sea and the sun… bliss! We booked a fantastic family-friendly resort and spent most of our time in our ‘resort bubble’, just enjoying the pools, beach and evening meals and entertainment. It’s not often that we go on a holiday and don’t venture out much but with having two young children and no hire car, we decided that it was easier to stay put this time around. However, the hotel did offer a land train ride to the local tourist attraction, Lake Kournas which was a perfect way for us to travel there– Jake was incredibly excited– and it meant we could see a bit of what the local area had to offer on the short journey.

How to Make the Most Out of a Trip to the Amalfi Coast

*Collaborative Post

Since the Roman times, the Amalfi Coast and its three islands – Procida, Ischia and Capri – have been a must-visit for many travellers.

Surrounded by tall mountains, the coastal towns in this area remain largely unspoilt, being a culinary, artistic and scenic delight. Visitors come to the area in their droves during the warmer summer months, so if you want to avoid the crowds it’s a good idea to visit out of season.

Here are some more top tips on how to make the most out of your trip to the Amalfi Coast:

The Best Ways to Beat Your Holiday Blues

We’ve only been back from our family holiday abroad for a couple of days and I already feel as though we’ve been back ages. The bad weather that greeted us didn’t help, the reminder of having to find a new car as I looked at my battered Astra when we arrived home (sigh), the immediate start of washing and cleaning and thinking about routines coming back into play… urgh, take me back! And this is why I suffer badly with the holiday blues. It happens almost every time I come back, especially if the holiday has been extra special and it can take me a week or more to fully settle into being home again.

What Can I Expect When Flying with a Baby?

This is probably the most common question I googled prior to our family holiday this year; ‘What can I expect when flying with a baby?’ I had no idea. I didn’t know if it would be a hassle manoeuvring my way through the airport, I didn’t know if the baby would sleep or scream, I didn’t know how the other passengers would react and so on.

Top Tips For Keeping Your Luggage Weight Down When Travelling With Children

So, we made it to our destination but it wasn’t without a little trouble with our luggage at check-in. We knew we were going to be over, it was inevitable in our eyes. I mean, we have 2 children, 1 being a baby and we were coming away for 2 weeks. We had only been allocated 15 kg per person and I know what I’m like for overpreparing and packing for every possible scenario. I just can’t help myself,

4 Not-So-Plastic Travel Credit Card Tips

The days of travelling without credit care are long gone. Nowadays, almost every town or city in the world accepts card payments. Most of them don’t even need you to type in a PIN number. Plus, cash and travellers’ cheques are a security risk. Anyone who wants to globetrot around the world safely needs a piece of plastic in the back pocket just in case.

flying with a baby checklist written on a skyline with a plane

Flying with a Baby Checklist

We are about to embark on our very first holiday abroad with a baby. We first took Jake aged 2 and even though he was still in nappies, he had far fewer needs. As long as he had toys, games and stickers he was a happy boy! So, this year he is 4 and the tablet is probably going to be played the entire time (if he has his way!) but William is just 5 months which has made me feel a little more anxious. But to combat this I have done my research and this is my flying with a baby checklist:
