Travel and kids may not always seem like the best idea but in the last few years I have learnt so much from it and now it feels so natural and each time we go I am eager to get away again on the next adventure. Whether it is a holiday in the UK or abroad we have fun whatever we get up to and it is always the highlight of my year and we love sharing this with you. Visiting Lake Kournas, Crete

We have recently got back from a gorgeous family holiday in Crete and I am just sitting here dreaming of going back to the sea and the sun… bliss! We booked a fantastic family-friendly resort and spent most of our time in our ‘resort bubble’, just enjoying the pools, beach and evening meals and entertainment. It’s not often that we go on a holiday and don’t venture out much but with having two young children and no hire car, we decided that it was easier to stay put this time around. However, the hotel did offer a land train ride to the local tourist attraction, Lake Kournas which was a perfect way for us to travel there– Jake was incredibly excited– and it meant we could see a bit of what the local area had to offer on the short journey.

We’ve only been back from our family holiday abroad for a couple of days and I already feel as though we’ve been back ages. The bad weather that greeted us didn’t help, the reminder of having to find a new car as I looked at my battered Astra when we arrived home (sigh), the immediate start of washing and cleaning and thinking about routines coming back into play… urgh, take me back! And this is why I suffer badly with the holiday blues. It happens almost every time I come back, especially if the holiday has been extra special and it can take me a week or more to fully settle into being home again.
