Get Creative: Parents Need Hobbies Too

*Collaborative Post

If you’re a parent then you probably spend a lot of time buying glitter, clay, paint, and other artistic tools for your kids. Not all of us can be Van Gogh, but every child loves to express themselves in some way. Of course, that isn’t necessarily something we outgrow. Sure, you might have adult responsibilities now. You might have to look after the kids and go to the office from 9 to 5 every day, but what do you do when you get home? Parents should have hobbies too. You should follow in the footsteps of your children and start expressing your creativity. Obviously, you can help your kids with arts and crafts, but you might want your own hobby too. These ideas for artistic ventures will definitely give you some inspiration.

Living in Peace: Tips For Making Your Garden More Secure

*Collaborative Post

Most of us have a fairly good understanding of what we need to do to keep our homes secure. Make sure we’re always keeping the front door locked, install a security alarm, and keep nothing on display that might inspire passersby to try their luck at breaking and entering, and job done, right? Perhaps not. Most burglaries don’t happen by chance; they’re targeting. And most don’t occur through the front of the house – criminal target the garden, which is often better hidden and laxer when it comes to security. To ensure you’re not targeting this way, we’ve put together a few useful tips that’ll up the security levels of your garden.

It is Almost Time to say Goodbye and Thank You

*Collaborative Post

It is coming up to that time of year where a big change is on the horizon. As I have mentioned before, Jake is about to leave pre-school and will be starting school in September, although I haven’t quite got my head around it all just yet. There is so much new to think about, settling in sessions to attend and parents evenings to get all the relevant information but before all of that, I need to think about how I say thank you to the amazing staff at his pre-school as he ‘graduates’ from there. As Jake is my first child, this is all new to me and I want to get it right and I want to give them something special. I expect they get inundated with wine and chocolates at the end of term but I would like to mark the end of this stage with something memorable and a stunning thank you card at graduation.

How I Solved my Baby’s Colic and Reflux Problem

*Contains affiliate links

If you have followed William’s journey, you will know that soon after coming home from the hospital he began to suffer from colic and reflux. Jake never had these problems so everything I was seeing and experiencing was all completely new to me. I had heard of parents pacing the floor all night but until I had William I honestly never had a clue how bad things could be. I was shattered. I felt defeated by the lack of sleep and the endless crying and being told by doctors that ‘it’s just colic’ wasn’t enough for me. I’m not one to sit back and wait for things to work themselves out, especially when it comes to health. I need to be actively finding a solution, looking for tips, doing anything to help my children and just waiting for him to grow out of it all was never an option.

Mini First Aid Berkshire Review

First aid training for babies and children was something I had always wanted to do but with the arrival of Jake and the whirlwind of becoming a first time Mother it meant it became one of those things I just kept (naughtily) putting off. Then when William arrived 8 weeks early, it seemed to be the only thing I could think about. My perspective on child emergency care had vastly changed and when he was allowed to come home with us after 3 weeks in NICU, I was extremely nervous that something would happen and I wouldn’t know what to do. The hospital were amazing and provided us with basic CPR and choking knowledge before his discharge but I felt that I needed more in-depth training which would cover other possible accidents or medical situations, so when Alison from Mini First Aid Berkshire got in touch about attending one of her 2 hour classes, I jumped at the chance.
