My blog is my business so it seems only right to have a category to cover this. I began my journey of writing by writing my book which led to my blog and I love to share tips and experiences I have learnt along the way. I think it is important to share these because we were all at the beginning once, with no clue, no idea how to do certain tasks and being able to rely on others’ expertise can be invaluable. I have learnt so much since my blog became my business, there are so many things I wish I’d known three years ago but if it means I can now help others I’m glad I can jot these things down to help. I cover topics on writing, blogging, self-publishing and working from home.

Re-Discovering Yourself After Becoming a Mother
I have always been a worker. I started out doing a paper round after school, went on to have a Saturday job at 16 and after leaving college I decided that working was for me and not studying. I worked my way up in a well-known retailer and had such a passion for it that you would have thought I owned the shop myself. After leaving this job to pursue a new career as a teaching assistant I unexpectedly fell pregnant very quickly (we had tried the year before but after 4 months nothing had happened. Just goes to show what a new job can do for you!) I went on maternity and had planned to return to work but my new found motherly attachment had other plans! I knew I had to be at home with him and I knew I wouldn’t have been happy going back into full-time work.

A Look Back Over My First Year Writing and Blogging
Here we are, a few days away from 2017 and it has made me realise that my book has almost been out for an entire year which also means I have also been blogging for a year too. Looking back to this time last year I remember trying to get it completed and was tackling the layout as a novice and imagining how I would simply be able to self-publish on Amazon and sit back and enjoy the reward of the sales… oh the naivety!

‘Your Teething Baby’ sneak peek
I wanted to give you a little sneak peek of my book Your Teething Baby, from one parent to another, to help you to understand what it covers and how it can benefit you. Here are some of the sections and snippets for you to enjoy.
Introduction:
(A snippet of the intro)
Why Teething?
From the moment that you discover you are pregnant you find yourself inundated with information. This ranges from how long you may get morning sickness for, to what to expect at your scan, what products you should be buying and reading many pregnancy books; as well as taking in every bit of advice you possibly can from those who have been there before. We attend antenatal classes to prepare for the birth and once baby is here there is support from midwives and health visitors. You find out all about breastfeeding, bottle feeding, nappy changes, weight gains or weight losses and postnatal depression; all of which is vital information when becoming a parent – especially if it’s your first time. I, however, feel that one area is overlooked and for some families it is a very big milestone which can take over both yours and your baby’s life………… Teething.

Writing and Self-Publishing
Self-publishing always seems to sound like the easy way to get your book in print but that certainly is not the case and I am just sitting here thinking how it all looks pretty simple when someone announces that they have written a book and you see the finished product, but what you don’t ever get to see is what goes into it all behind the scenes. So here’s a little insight into what I have had to do, research and learn in order to self-publish my book.

Thoughts
Thoughts are funny things. We all have thoughts every minute of every day, most being basic topics such as ‘what shall I have for lunch, I’m cold, what’s the time, I’m tired, what should I do today?’ And so on. Then other thoughts venture
