Flying with a Baby Checklist

We are about to embark on our very first holiday abroad with a baby. We first took Jake aged 2 and even though he was still in nappies, he had far fewer needs. As long as he had toys, games and stickers he was a happy boy! So, this year he is 4 and the tablet is probably going to be played the entire time (if he has his way!) but William is just 5 months which has made me feel a little more anxious. Buck the Trend and Go North This Summer

Come the summer months almost everyone going on holiday will plan a trip south for sun, sea and sand. While this is a lovely way to spend a fortnight, and there is nothing wrong with reading by the pool, it isn’t the most imaginative way to spend your time.

If you are a traveller by nature, you are doing yourself down by going on the same holidays over and again. You can still go on a pool holiday every now and then, but it’s time to think more creatively and buck the trend.

Seeing the world has always been something I have been drawn to and even though I love the UK there is so much more I want to see and experience. I must admit I’ve never been one to consider travelling for a long period of time and I certainly wouldn’t want to hostel it around Europe, I’m just not good at ‘roughing it’! Why Cornwall is a Great Holiday Destination With a Baby

Our first ever holiday as a family was to the stunning county of Cornwall when Jake was just 6 months old. We didn’t fancy attempting a holiday abroad with a baby due to the fact we didn’t know how he would take to the heat or even flying so we looked at our options of where to stay in the UK. Cornwall stood out to us because there is just so much to see and do and let’s face it when you have a baby your priorities of what a holiday has to offer completely change – bye, bye long days spent sunning yourself on a beach whilst drinking cocktails!

We booked a caravan on the family-friendly site of Sandymouth Holiday Resort which is set in North Cornwall and has plenty of onsite facilities which include a shop, a play area, bar and restaurant, an indoor swimming pool and plenty of green space for playing games. Just down the road is Sandymouth Beach which stretches for 2 miles down to Bude. With its golden sand, beautiful scenery and perfect waves for surfing/bodyboarding, it is the perfect place for the whole family to enjoy. We enjoyed the holiday so much that we returned to the same caravan park and the same caravan the following year when Jake was 18 months old.

My Top Ten Travel Must-Haves
