how to create your homemade advent calendar

How To Create Your Homemade Advent Calendar

Last year I made the decision to stop using a shop-bought advent calendar. I didn’t want to add to our UK waste problem, I didn’t want more plastic going in the bin and, to be honest, the chocolate is never that nice anyway, is it?! This is how I created our homemade advent calendar… Continue reading “How To Create Your Homemade Advent Calendar”

How You Can Be More Eco-Friendly This Christmas

With Christmas just around the corner, you may already be thinking about those presents, the decorations, how much food you will need to buy and which family will be hosting. It’s a big day and it can take a lot of planning BUT is it too big? Has Christmas got out of hand? Do we need to start reining it all in? Do we need to consider our waste and consumption now that we are very aware of the overuse of plastic and climate change? Looking at current figures I’d say so! It has been reported that in the UK alone we create 30% more waste than usual during the festive period, which includes two million turkeys and six million Christmas trees plus 1 billion Christmas cards!! How To Make A Wise Man Outfit For The Average Parent (warning: Pinterest Mums do not click, the inaccuracy and lack of perfection may infuriate you!)

I am far from being a ‘Pinterest Mum’. I mean, I give things a fair good go but they usually turn out well, um, let’s say less than perfect… Just check out my, er, Halloween pumpkin cupcakes I attempted last year. They certainly didn’t look like this on Pinterest and these definitely didn’t end up at the school fair! Christmas is NOT a Competition, Don’t Let It Overwhelm You

Over the last week or so I have become more and more enraged as the Christmas season has gradually crept up… a bit too prematurely for my liking, I mean is it just me or is ‘Christmas’ getting earlier each year?! Santa in November anyone?!

Now, I am all for celebrating. I am definitely all for the pretty lights, the cosy nights by the fire, the songs (I love the songs!) Continue reading “Christmas is NOT a Competition, Don’t Let It Overwhelm You”

Christmas is coming and when you have children it means it gets all that little more exciting, doesn’t it? I’ve found that with each year that Jake has got older, Christmas has become so much more to him (obviously it is also his birthday) and I am loving finding new ways to make it even more fun! Last year, we were lucky enough to be asked to review ‘The Truly Magical’ Magic Santa Letter so when they got into contact again this year I was so happy. With 2 little boys to think about now (I know, one is a baby but I’m all about the nostalgia!) I want to make these occasions as memorable and special as I can. Yes, I said it. Christmas. I’m not usually one to say it quite so early but what with numerous birthdays beforehand (as well as one on the day itself!) I have decided that this year is the year I get organised and on the ball well in advance. As a busy Mum of 2 now, I can’t leave it all to the last minute anymore and I don’t want to be rushing around when we could be enjoying the run-up to the big day by visiting Grottos, going to Christmas Fayres or even to one of the many stunning winter wonderlands that are on in our area. Magic Santa Letter Review and Discount Code

*Gifted Product

With Halloween behind us, it is now the time to think further ahead to Christmas. I’m not usually very organised but this year I decided to make a change and ensure that I don’t leave it all until the week before. I have struggled with knowing how to treat Christmas since I had Jake on this day in 2013 but now that he is showing us how Christmas crazy he is I can accept that the day can be equally celebrated for both him and others. It is time for me to fall in love with this time of year all over again.

I can already give myself brownie points for one area because I have Jake’s letter from Santa ready Continue reading “Magic Santa Letter Review and Discount Code”
