How To Use Reusable Baby Wipes Out and About

Making any switch from something which you may have always deemed as convenient to something completely new may seem very daunting and confusing. Of course it does, we are all so used to our lifestyles being made “simple” by large companies and we are programmed to throw things away when they are dirty because it has been drummed into us that germs are bad. So, when we bring in a reusable product, something that can be washed and used over and over again, an item that is as simple as a flannel and water, we for some reason overthink it.

Our Eco-Friendly Swaps to Date

My journey to be more eco-friendly has really ramped up this year. After discovering cloth nappies and wipes in 2018 I was more determined than ever to add to this over the coming years and I am pretty pleased with how much I have tried, I have achieved and I have persuaded my husband to go with too!! (Lord knows that was the hardest part of it all!) So, instead of rambling on in another post on how to do this and that I thought I would just give you a very quick list of our eco-friendly swaps to date. Small Businesses: What Could You Do To Be More Sustainable In 2020?

*Collaborative Post

The new year is almost upon us. And for business owners that means it’s time to start looking to the challenges that the new year will bring. It’s time to think about how you’ll hold your own as the market grows more competitive. It’s time to think about what will happen as the economy grows more uncertain with the looming issue of Brexit (whether you voted for it or not, there’s no denying that it will have long term economic repercussions including the possibility of a recession). But perhaps most importantly of all, it means doing your part to ensure that your business leads the charge for sustainability and ecological awareness. Given that our PM couldn’t be bothered to even turn up to a debate on climate change, it’s up to the UK’s businesses and entrepreneurs to show how much they care about a sustainable business future.

Should We Be Going Meat-Free?

*Contains ad link

Should we be going meat-free? This is something I have been going back and forth with over the last year I’d say. Having watched my sister turn Vegetarian last year and thinking she was mad after over 30 years of being a meat-eater, I am now contemplating joining her. Why? Because I feel that I need to do more for our planet and going meat-free could have the biggest impact.

I have watched a lot of TV programmes in the last 18 months and I am very aware of our plastic problem, of the need to cut back on what we buy and the importance of making better product choices BUT Continue reading “Should We Be Going Meat-Free?”

*Gifted Product

In my bid to make my life far more eco-friendly, I am always on the lookout for anything that will help our planet. Whether that is making a small swap like using bars of soap, reusing shopping bags, taking my own bottled water out or bigger things like switching to cloth nappies and reusable wipes, every small change is for the better. One area that is always going to be tough is not always buying new. I have made the step towards checking pre-loved sites more and learning which charity shops have the best turnover of stock but there will always be items that I am not willing to purchase secondhand or which may not be available. With this in mind, I have to learn to shop as eco-friendly as I can, I have to choose better quality items that will last and can then be passed on once we are done with them and I need to look into how those items have been produced. I know that this may sound a bit much but in our current climate, we all need to be more responsible when it comes to our lifestyles.

How You Can Be More Eco-Friendly This Christmas

*Contains ads

With Christmas just around the corner, you may already be thinking about those presents, the decorations, how much food you will need to buy and which family will be hosting. It’s a big day and it can take a lot of planning BUT is it too big? Has Christmas got out of hand? Do we need to start reining it all in? Do we need to consider our waste and consumption now that we are very aware of the overuse of plastic and climate change? Looking at current figures I’d say so! It has been reported that in the UK alone we create 30% more waste than usual during the festive period, which includes two million turkeys and six million Christmas trees plus 1 billion Christmas cards!!
