How To Stay Healthy During Your Pregnancy

*Collaborative Post

The way you take care of yourself while pregnant plays a vital role in determining if you will have complications in the course of the pregnancy and during delivery, and more importantly, the health of your baby.

Many myths abound about what’s good and bad for a pregnant woman, the foods you should eat and which ones you should avoid, but you the guiding principle should be what’s bad for you is worse for your baby. Also, remember that the baby’s immune system is weak and you should, therefore, watch what you feed them through your own foods.

Flying with a Baby Checklist

We are about to embark on our very first holiday abroad with a baby. We first took Jake aged 2 and even though he was still in nappies, he had far fewer needs. As long as he had toys, games and stickers he was a happy boy! So, this year he is 4 and the tablet is probably going to be played the entire time (if he has his way!) but William is just 5 months which has made me feel a little more anxious. But to combat this I have done my research and this is my flying with a baby checklist:

How I Solved my Baby’s Colic and Reflux Problem

*Contains affiliate links

If you have followed William’s journey, you will know that soon after coming home from the hospital he began to suffer from colic and reflux. Jake never had these problems so everything I was seeing and experiencing was all completely new to me. I had heard of parents pacing the floor all night but until I had William I honestly never had a clue how bad things could be. I was shattered. I felt defeated by the lack of sleep and the endless crying and being told by doctors that ‘it’s just colic’ wasn’t enough for me. I’m not one to sit back and wait for things to work themselves out, especially when it comes to health. I need to be actively finding a solution, looking for tips, doing anything to help my children and just waiting for him to grow out of it all was never an option.

“Say Hello” Tummy Time Discovery Toy Review

*Gifted Product

Development for William may come at different stages due to his prematurity but one thing I am very positive about doing is providing plenty of sensory stimulation for him. As he has now been out for 19 weeks, his little mind wants to do so much more than his body can manage as he should only really be 11 weeks old. He has become frustrated with laying on the floor, he loves to have something to help him up and he adores watching toys, looking at bright colours and being interacted with. I remember how much my first son hated tummy time but to help us out, my cousin loaned us her tummy time cushion. It was such a useful baby product in aiding Jake in his movement so when Baby Sensory contacted us to review their “Say Hello” Tummy Time Discovery Toy I knew it would be a hit with William.

Everything You Need to Take Your Baby Swimming

I remember when we first took Jake swimming as a 10-week old baby. Oh, the naivety. I had assumed that he would love it, I had assumed that other children would be more careful around a baby, I thought it would be beautifully warm and we would be in there for a while… not quite! He kinda liked it, other children don’t really care how much they splash you and he got cold, so cold that his lips turned blue. So it lasted about ten minutes and that was that, his very first swim over in a flash. But we were first-time parents. We hadn’t been swimming ourselves for years and we certainly hadn’t done our research into what was available for babies to make their experience better.

Teething: It’s Just as Bad The Second Time Around!

I may have previously mentioned my hate of teething in my blog posts… and in my book! I remember during Jake’s teething time, being immersed in this world of pain, sleepless nights, dribble, sickness and unhappiness (both of us) yet somehow, I blocked it out. It may have taken 2 years but I had finally left the teething stress behind. I guess it’s a bit like childbirth, isn’t it? They say women forget it quickly which is why they go on to have more children, otherwise, no one would! Well, I have hit that point with teething. It’s back, I had forgotten how bad it could be and it is all coming flooding back, urghhhhh…
