A Parent’s Choice: Why We Are Finding Out The Sex of Our Baby

We are coming up to our 20-week scan and the question on everyone’s lips is ″are you finding out the sex of the baby?″ The thing I find most hilarious are the gasps when I reveal that we are.  And then the responses:

″But don’t you want the surprise?″

You Know You’re a Stay at Home Mum when…

My life has changed considerably since becoming a stay at home Mum. Some may question my choice but I wouldn’t change any part of the last three years. Yeah, so my priorities are a far cry from what they were when I was employed and I may not be the hard-faced business person I once was when I worked in retail but I have a new focus and, for me, it is the most important one I have ever had.

Of course, there are plenty times when

Treating Yourself With Nicola-Louise Makeup: Lash Lift and Tint

*Gifted Treatment

As a Mum, I find it extremely hard to put myself first and think about my own needs. I often have unruly eyebrows, I only wear makeup to hide my tired skin and eye bags and a treat nowadays is getting a bubble bath squeezed into an evening once in a blue moon! I am aware of how important it is to treat yourself and that in order to be the best parent you can be you need to be in tip-top health yourself but I am pretty rubbish at listening to my own advice. It often takes me to really push myself to book in some ‘me time’ because I always see other areas as my priority… Mainly housework! So, when my friend contacted me to say she had recently qualified in being able to give a lash lift and tint and offered to do mine, I jumped at the chance to enjoy some pampering time.

When Chicken Pox Strikes

Chicken pox has finally reached us after knowing quite a few people coming down with it in the last few months and it hitting pre-school just recently too. It is inevitable when your child comes into close contact with so many other children but it was still a surprise and then the realisation hit that we didn’t actually know anything about what we needed to do.

Mother's day list

What’s On My Mother’s Day List?

I didn’t want to do a fancy list for Mother’s Day saying buy this, buy that BUT I do want to highlight some of the amazing small businesses I have come across recently and the items that I have just fallen in love with. I think it is so important to shop small and support those who are just starting out in their new venture, especially on days where the large stores dominate the market.

So here is my personal choice of fabulous gifts perfect for any Mum this Mother’s Day.

My Top Tips For Overcoming Teeth Brushing Issues

Teeth brushing issues are very common and it is one area I am often asked about. Keeping up good oral care when the child is going through a developmental leap, is in the throes of the terrible twos or is in teething pain can be tough so I thought I would share some of the information that I have provided in my book to give some reassuring advice and, hopefully, some useful tips.

It’s not always straightforward when it comes to brushing your child’s teeth. When they are teething it can be too painful to do. Other times they may just not want it done, they may want to do it themselves or they may develop a fear of the activity. Whatever the issue there are always things you can try to resolve them:
