Review: Dinosaur World at The Anvil

*Gifted Tickets

Jake is a huge dinosaur fan, so when Anvil Arts invited us along to review the new show Dinosaur World we jumped at the chance. The show is suitable from the age of three and runs for 50 minutes with no interval, which works out well. With this being our third theatre show of the year we have started to learn how long Jake can hold his attention for and anything over an hour has him wriggling in his seat. However, this show is completely different from your usual one. The lights remain up through most of it and photos are permitted throughout which is a nice change.

The Dinosaur World show is performed by Miranda who tells her story of how she came to live on an island inhabited by dinosaurs. She grew up around them and learnt all she could from her parents. She is extremely enthusiastic throughout the show and her on-stage energy keeps the children’s attention. She encourages the audience to shout out and join in as well as asking selected members to join her up on stage to help with each dinosaur.

Review: Beeutiful Skincare

*Gifted Products

I was fortunate enough to meet Carly from Beeutiful at a networking event for local businesses. After giving an informative talk on all that she has achieved in the last 5 years we had the opportunity to view and purchase the products she makes from home. All products have been individually created by Carly and have honey as their main ingredient. This honey comes directly from her own hives and she ensures that nothing goes to waste and, more importantly, that the bees are treated well and are always left with enough honey for themselves… I was unaware of the ins and outs of beekeeping but Carly is on top of bee conservation and environmental care.

Review: Life’s Little Bugs

*Gifted Products

As soon as I heard of the concept of the Life’s Little Bugs books I just knew they were right up our street and was over the moon when Tina, the author, asked me to review a set. She has brought together education with fun rhyming stories to teach children the importance of looking after themselves, one another and the environment. There are 7 books in the series and each has been entirely written plus illustrated by Tina. The illustrations are most definitely the first thing that draws you in. Each cover is a bright shade of green which not only catches your eye but also gives the sense of fun. The main character of each book also appear on the cover and they are all just so brilliant! Well, you can take a look for yourselves…

Finding the Right Service with Bidvine

There is an ongoing discussion that occurs in our house which I am pretty certain happens in most households across the country. Most women would probably prefer one of these over flowers and chocolates any day, yet very few of us have the privilege of having one in our home. What is it that causes so much debate? Well, it’s a cleaner of course! Since having a baby I have brought this topic up time and time again. When you have your hands full with a newborn and especially if you are like me and had a c-section you want all the help you can get. Unfortunately, with maternity pay and extra costs coming in from having the baby you have to save where you can and my husband only saw a cleaner as a luxury… I, however, saw it as a necessity!

When I heard that the ‘Room on the Broom’ production was coming to The Haymarket Theatre in Basingstoke, I just knew we had to go and see it. Julia Donaldson’s books have become a popular choice in our house along with the films, so to be able to see one brought to life on the stage I thought it was the perfect first show for Jake to attend.

tropic skincare on a shelf

Review: Tropic Skincare

I have had a bad relationship with my skin since I was about 10 years old. It began with a few blackheads appearing on my nose and led to greasy skin, large pores and huge, red, painful spots. Cue years of teen angst, feeling self-conscious and trying every spot remedy available on the market.

I was brutal with my skin, through scrubbing, picking and squeezing spots to over-cleansing, steaming and exfoliating. With the lack of knowledge about skincare and the thought that my spots were generated by bacteria, I didn’t realise that I was actually doing more harm than good.
