All in One Cloth Nappies- everything you need

You would have probably read in my last post that we are making the move over to cloth nappies. This is for quite a few reasons but the most important being the fact that they are eco-friendly and they will be saving us money in the long-run… up to £500 a year did you know?! We are starting with the all in one cloth nappies but I know there are other versions available and there is a lot for me to still find out but for now, I am going with what seems to be the easiest option.

Why We are Changing to Cloth Nappies

Just recently I have been looking more and more into making the change from disposable nappies to cloth nappies and after looking into all the pros and cons, after speaking to those who have been converted for years and researching what is available on the market, I am about to take the leap and this is why:

5 Ways I’m Going to be More Ecologically Friendly

*Affiliate Links

The focus to be more ecologically friendly is definitely a big talking point at the moment and it’s making me think about how bad we are in our own home for throwing away too much plastic, using too many non-reusable items and not really thinking enough about what else can actually be recycled.

I think as a parent it can be a really tough area to crack, though. It is so easy to buy disposable nappies, wipes and anything that seemingly makes our lives simpler at a time when we are super busy and extremely tired but in the long run how much waste are we producing and how much money are we spending without realising? It’s going to take a bit of time to work out what I need to change overall, but to start with I have 5 focus areas:

Bringing Your Garden To Life With Trees

*Collaborative Post

If you are a regular reader of my blog you will know that gardening is one of my passions. However, you will also know that when we were in the process of house buying this was, unfortunately, the one area that we had to compromise on due to house prices and even though we have now lived in our new build for 6 years, I am still working hard on the garden in order to mature it and to give it that homely feel. For me, the garden is an extension of your home and it deserves just as much attention as the house does. I have such fond memories of playing in the garden as a child with one of the best parts being that we had an apple tree. We had hours of fun climbing it, hanging a rope from it to swing on and collecting the cooking apples for my Nan to make crumbles with. I don’t think you need to have a garden full of toys, you just need children with a good imagination. I also believe that it is very important to get kids into gardening too, even in simple ways such as watering, growing strawberries or just by having a place where they can happily dig and play.

Review: Beeutiful Skincare

*Gifted Products

I was fortunate enough to meet Carly from Beeutiful at a networking event for local businesses. After giving an informative talk on all that she has achieved in the last 5 years we had the opportunity to view and purchase the products she makes from home. All products have been individually created by Carly and have honey as their main ingredient. This honey comes directly from her own hives and she ensures that nothing goes to waste and, more importantly, that the bees are treated well and are always left with enough honey for themselves… I was unaware of the ins and outs of beekeeping but Carly is on top of bee conservation and environmental care.

DIY: Building a Bughouse

It may seem like we are always trying to get rid of unwanted pests and bugs in our garden but are we going too far at times? Not all bugs are actually pests and if you start to look into their roles you will find out that some are vital to our eco-system. We are now all very aware of the huge role bees play in the pollination of our plants, flowers and trees. One way to encourage bees to your garden is by planting brightly coloured and strong scented plants, such as lavender. These will return year after year, look fab, will fill out to cover large areas and will keep the bees coming back. Other popular flowers include Aster’s, Hydrangea, Bergamot, Sun Flowers and Jasmine. Sunflowers are of course a really fun option to plant and grow with your children. But how can we attract other bugs and keep them sticking around? How about by building a bughouse?
