With our awareness of the need to reduce waste now growing and trying to find ways to be more eco-friendly, it is about time that we also turn this idea to those big times of year where we are all guilty of creating the most waste and using the most single-use items. Now, I don’t want the fun to be limited, that isn’t the point of this post. What I want to do is highlight where changes can be easily made and with Halloween just around the corner now is the time to get our thinking caps on to work out exactly how we can be more eco-friendly.

As you’ll all probably know by now, my eco journey is ever-growing and there is rarely a week that goes by where I’m not trying out something new or researching products and looking for new ways to reduce my waste, to help the environment and to be more sustainable. And as a blogger I am very lucky to be in a position to be able to hear about the latest products and to have the opportunity to try them out and to then, of course, let you lovely lot know about them. The world of eco-friendly products is growing which is, of course, an amazing thing but for those who are just delving into it all it can be quite overwhelming. I mean where do you start?! Making The Switch To Cloth Sanitary Pads
I started my periods way back when I was around 11/12 and yet what has recently astounded me is that I have gone around for the last 25 years or so not knowing that cloth sanitary pads were a thing. I have spent how much?! Oh, god, I don’t want to know, just imagine… I may cry, I may actually cry, PLUS I have sent god knows how much plastic, chemical-filled waste to landfill or incineration (pass the bucket). I honestly not only feel sick from all of this but I also feel completely and utterly cheated.

Ok, so since making a lot of changes over the last year in order to become more eco-friendly there has been one obstacle that I have come up against time and time again: the sheer cost. Yep, as soon as you start looking for products that start with the word ‘eco’ you can guarantee that the price is going to be far higher than your usual product – and yes there are reasons for that, important reasons but not everything has to cost you loads, which is why I am finding ways of being as eco-friendly on a budget as I can be and I wanted to share some of these with you as it is a topic that comes up quite a lot and if we truly want to make a difference to our environment it needs to be achievable for everybody.

Review | New Elements Easyfit Reusable Nappies by Totsbots
*Gifted Reusable Nappies
Reusable nappies have become a passion of mine (something you may have noticed!) Since making the swap in June last year I have gradually built up a stash big enough to wave goodbye to single-use nappies for good, I have talked about the ease of the switch and have tried my best to spread the word that reusable nappies are the way forward for our environment. However, the benefits of changing aren’t all about being eco-friendly. We have discovered that William is far more comfortable in reusables, that he never gets nappy rash and that we are saving ourselves a lot of money in long-run. If that isn’t enough to tempt you just yet, perhaps the designs will?! Have you SEEN today’s reusable nappies?
